Call for Abstracts
Authors are invited to submit abstracts for poster and oral submissions on original work for the 6th APSTH
Abstracts should be submitted addressing one of the following topics:

Accepted abstracts will be printed in the Program Book. Abstracts must be submitted by the deadline date of 15 September 2010 to ensure publication requirements are met.
Information for Invited Speakers: Please note, that all invited speakers are also required to submit an abstract on their presentation topic – for publication in the onsite Program Book.

Abstract Submission

All abstracts must be prepared according to the guidelines provided below. Incomplete or incorrect submissions will be returned to the author and must be resubmitted immediately in the correct format to be considered for inclusion in the program.

Abstracts will be published exactly as they are submitted; there will be no opportunity for amendments.

The purpose of the abstract is to define the precise subject of the presentation to an audience.

The reviewers reserve the right to move abstract submissions between related areas of the Program. For example, an abstract may be shifted from a Free Paper Presentation to Poster presentation.

Abstract Format Guidelines
Abstracts will be published as submitted – therefore, all submissions must conform to the Abstract Format Guidelines.
Accepted abstracts will be published in the Program and Abstract book
Abstract Format Guidelines
Title
The abstract title should be short, informative and contain the major key words. It should only be listed on the online form and within the body of the abstract text which is uploaded. Please note that this title should be in title case and not in capitals.
Abstract text

Abstract text must be in Arial, 10pt size, single-spaced and justified.

Abstracts are to be a maximum of 300 words, including references.

There is to be a maximum of 2 references.

Use standard abbreviations only. Within the body of the abstract, when using abbreviations spell out the name in full at the first mention and follow with the abbreviation in parenthesis. Abbreviations may be used in the title, provided the name in full is outlined in the body of the abstract.

Abstract should be structured into the following headings: introductions, aims, methods, results and conclusion.
Oral Presentations
For those authors submitting an abstract for consideration for the oral program, please note that the length of your presentation will be 7 minutes plus 3 minutes for questions and answers. Please note: If you are an invited speaker please refer to your invitation letter for confirmation of your presentation duration.
Oral Presentations: Audiovisual equipment
Please note that for all oral presentations the following equipment will be available in each session room for use by speakers - Projection (LCD), laptop (PC compatible), laser pointer and microphone.
Poster Presentations
For those authors submitting an abstract for consideration for a poster presentation, please note that the length of your presentation will be 5 minutes plus 2 minutes for questions and answers. Authors will be required to be present at their poster at a specific time on a specific day. Please note that this will be confirmed upon acceptance of your paper.
Preparation of Posters
Instructions on the preparation of poster displays will be sent to authors upon notification of the abstract’s acceptance. An indication of what is required is listed below.
Size
Posters should be no larger than 90cm wide x 110cm high. Posters larger than these dimensions will exceed the board size; it is therefore necessary that the poster adhere to the specified measurements.
Lettering
The poster should be easily readable at a distance of two meters. Use UPPER and lower case for general content as the use of all-capital text is difficult to read. Avoid using mixtures of type/font styles. Left justified text, as it is easier on the eyes of the reader.
Title Case / Bold
At the top of the poster include the title of the presentation, the name of the authors and the institution where the work was completed.
Title Case
Headings such as “Introduction”, “Methods”, “Results”, “Discussions” and “Conclusions” are useful.
Upper and Lower Case
The text should be brief throughout. Any description of methods should be simple and concise.
Graphs/Photographs:
For visual effect, it is recommended that graphs be no smaller than 12cm x 18cm.
